History

Chianciano Terme lies on a hill which overlooks the plentiful Valdichiana and the magic Val d’Orcia. These valleys were famous in Roman times for producing oil, wine and grain. Chianciano is a Spa town rich in mineral waters with curative properties. It is surrounded by hills and woods of oak, beech, holm-oak and chestnut, and enjoys a mild climate, immersed in a healthy, unspoiled environment. The town consists of a large number of green areas, amongst which are the Spa Centre parks, public gardens and those of the local villas and hotels.

Chianciano holds Etruscan remains of great importance.
